Why was “Tree of Life for Armenia inc. society” established and who were the founders?
Zinaida Umland, née Macakjan, was born in Armenia but she has been living in Germany for twenty years. In spite of this long period she simply cannot disengage from her homeland. For six years by now she has supported NAIRI, a project for children in Armenia. During these times she nurtured the desire to establish her own project which would aim at supporting the Armenian people.
Wilfried Henseler has been engaged in social projects for many years and he has a huge heart for children. During the past Wilfried Henseler helped to establish several aid organisations among others “Deutsche Leberhilfe e.V.”. When he was still a young doctor he was decorated with the Landesverdienstkreuz for his role model activities. In 2008 Zinaida Umland and Wilfried Henseler visited Armenia. They realised that only continuous labour could help the Armenian people. Right after their return they translated their ideas into action. Ideas for the project were born and eventually dismissed. Then in June 2010, at last. Zinaida Umland und Wilfried Henseler founded “Tree of Life for Armenia inc. society“ in Germany and “Tree of Life” in Armenia. Both associations are non-profit organisations. The goals of the societies are meant to be achieved by ecological cultivation, graft in Armenia and launching the products in Europe.
