The repeated (multiple) boxing-world champion had developed an ardent and passionate interest in the project “Arbor vitae for Armenia, registered association” from its very beginning.
Mrs. Susi Kentikian was born in 1987 in Yerevan. When she was only 5 years old her family left Armenia because of the Karabach-War. Since 1996 she has been citizen of Hamburg. In Germany she fought step by step to reach the top of boxing world. After becoming successful as an amateur boxer she started her career as a boxing-professional in 2005. Since 2007 Susi Kentikian has been reigning boxing-world champion in the featherweight category in the versions of the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO) and Women’s International Boxing Federation (WIBF).
When she was asked whether she could say what had been the key moments that made her achieve success or made her start at all in the boxing-world Susi answered, “I have achieved this here all only because I have always remained true to the slogan in my life, i.e. when you make a decision you can achieve so much more than what you would have expected. And then she gave the reasons why she has supported the project “Arbor Vitae for Armenia”, “I have received a great chance in Germany - and I have taken it. Yet, not all people in my country face a perspective like this one. Therefore I would like to give to all of my fellow countrymen courage and support, since they have experienced more challenges than I have and I wish to help them actively as well as by creating a chance for them to overcome their poverty and hardships regarding social situations. I do believe that it is a shared responsibility to all Armenian people living abroad and who are now better off than the people in Armenia.
